Inner Worlds - re:Sound with Igor Yuzefovich and Ng Pei-Sian
- SYNOPSIS -
Singapore's leading chamber orchestra re:Sound presents an all-string programme which will resonate with many school string ensembles. The concert features Leoš Janáček's Idyll for Strings, a piece that os familiar to many school groups, and the dramatic Chamber Symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich, a string orchestra arrangement of the composer's String Quartet no. 8. Widely considered to be an autobiographical work, this deeply stirring quartet uses the famous "D-C-S-H" (D. Shostakovich) motif, and is considered to be one of the greatest string quartets ever written.
re:Sound will be joined by two very well-loved guest players, Igor Yuzefovich, co-concertmaster of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and until recently concertmaster of the Singapore Symphony (SSO), and Ng Pei-Sian, principal cellist of the SSO. Igor and Pei-Sian will premiere Christopher Theofinidis' electrifying The World is Aflame, and Pei-Sian performs Carl Vine's contemplative Inner World for cello, strings and taped cello.
