Perfecting Pratas - A Play within a Play Experience
from Ken Mizusawa's Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed
A play within a play, students will experience a re-enactment of a rehearsal process that frames Desmond Sim's Perfecting Prata as a narrative preamble.
"The Rehearsal" (written by Chong Tze Chien) will take students through the processes of putting up a play, which include actors prep work and directing and design choices, to help students understand characters' motivations and the purpose of dialogue, blocking and more.
A truly interactive and immersive setting, students will also get a chance to make artistic choices about the production and see them come to life in the actual staging of "The Play" (Perfecting Pratas by Desmond Sim)
This never been done before behind the scenes play within a play is an educational and informative experience to help students understand drama as a form and discipline, and help them gain a deeper appreciation for Perfecting Prata as a play as well as a dramatic medium.
Perfecting Pratas is part of Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed designed officially for the secondary school classroom in collaboration with the Curriculum Planning and Development Division (MOE) by Ken Mizusawa, lecturer in the English Language and Literature Academic Group (NIE).
