- SYNOPSIS -
A call with no one on the other line.
An accidental call you didn’t mean to make.
Wrongly addressed letters.
Ghost Call explores the idea behind one-sided communication and its effects on a person. With technology making it so easy for humans to connect, what does it mean when that connection is broken?
A collaboration between playwright Nabilah Said and RAW Moves Artistic Director Ricky Sim, Ghost Call is an experiment exploring the intersection between movement, text and the raw emotional connection with the audience.
As technology advances and there are more and more advanced ways to communicate, Ghost Call questions how youths communicate with the world (i.e primarily through social media).
Students will come to realize how ironic it is that it is easier for them to connect with more people, but the quality of that connection suffers because of this seeming ease of communication via social media eg it is easier to “Like” or “Heart” something online but much harder to pen something honest and heartfelt, much less pick up the phone and talk to someone.
This Movement & Text work exposes students to interdisciplinary works which encourages creativity, innovation and dialogue between dance, drama and literacy.
