Peter & The Wolf
- OUTLINE -
This superb dramatisation of Peter & the Wolf, accompanied by movement, dialogue and Sergey Prokofiev's musical score, provides an enthralling performance for young people. Come and watch this tale of a brave young boy who takes it upon himself to go out hunting for a dangerous wolf. Peter fails to heed the words of warning from his wise old grandfather, and without the slightest fear ventures forward with a bird, a duck, and a cat. Smart and quick-witted, our young hero involves his new friends to help capture the wolf and make sure no other animals fall prey. Faust's TiE version of Peter & the Wolf is meant to be fun, entertaining and educational for young people aged four and above. We need to keep the story and presentation simple and yet interesting, easy to follow and exciting. Holding the production together is the original music by Sergey Prokofiev, with the story narrated by three performers. The performers bring the characters, animals and objects to life without necessarily having much to say, although some dialogue may be added along the way. Three times we will break out of 'character'. The first time will be at the beginning when we mingle with the audience ourselves, fostering a relaxed and happy atmosphere in which to start the performance. The second time is just after the duck has been eaten. We will break out of character and check understanding with the audience in an ad lib manner. The third time comes at the end of the story when we have completed the procession. We stop and invite part of the audience to help us recreate a larger version of it.
