From Drawing to Patterns


The programme will commence with teaching students the basic drawing skills. From learning how to draw to application of tones, students will be trained to draw from observations. After which, students will be taught the whole process of abstracting patterns from drawing and the application of patterns on 3D objects. Hence in this programme, besides learning the basic drawing skills, students will be exposed to the different forms of art-from 2-Dimensional to 3-Dimensional art. The programme will certainly deepen and widen students' knowledge and appreciation of the diversified visual expressions.

To enhance students' ability to perceive, to communicate ideas effectively with appropriate art forms and to appreciate their own work as well as the work of others. 3. To provide a fun, enjoyable and broad-based art programme so as to develop students' love for the visual arts. 4. To emphasize the importance on the process of making art as well as the final outcome. 5.To train the students to draw from observation. 6. Students will be able to work with a vast variety of materials and media, as well as acquire and apply the skills and techniques learnt. 7.Students will perceive sensory input and information, communicate their understanding in various forms and making meaning through the appreciation of their work, as well as, the work of others. 3. Students will be able to: a. learn the basic drawing skills. b.Create tones with different methods. c.Apply tones on the contour drawing to create volume and depth. d.Abstract interesting patterns from drawing. e.Apply colour theory onto patterns created / Integrate and apply patterns onto 3D objects. f.Evaluate their work and provide constructive feedback.

Cost of programme does not include material cost. Materials to be provided by school. Cost of materials is subjected to the medium selected

Schools may use the Tote Board Arts Grant to subsidise the programme cost. There is a subsidy of up to 50% of the programme cost for mainstream schools, and up to 70% of the programme cost for Special Education Schools.
The Tote Board Arts Grant is not applicable to pre-schools. NAC partners selected pre-school centres to receive funding to purchase Pre-School AEP.

The following programme is approved under NAC-AEP 2019-2021 until 31 December 2021.
