Guitar and Effects in Modern Music
- OUTLINE -
Students will enjoy a program of music with a mix of pop, rock, jazz, and see how the guitar and its effects would greatly affect the feel and vibe of a song. This new and improved programme features a live band performance to demonstrate the guitar effects in a musical setting. Outline: - Introduction to the Guitar. - Explanation of the various effects available and how to combine them in different ways. - Demonstration of the different playing techniques of the instrument and how different approaches could alter the sound and feel of the guitar drastically. - Live band performances with explanations in between songs.
- LEARNING OBJECTIVES -
- To educate students about and encourage in students an appreciation of the role of guitar and the many effects employed in modern music. - To stimulate creativity in students by demonstrating how one particular effect or approach might change the entire song or entire generation of songs. - To demonstrate different ways of approaching the guitar (tapping, sliding, strumming and plucking) - To demonstrate that the key factor is one’s creativity and not the tools At the end of the programme, students (should) Primary - have an awareness and appreciation of the different approaches to guitar - have enjoyed the unique performance and opportunity of experimenting with various sound effects - have an awareness of different ways to approach instruments and music Secondary - develop an appreciation of music - be able to appreciate the art form and also going beyond the typical mindset of what the guitar represents - have gained knowledge to inform their creative pursuits and expressive capacities - gained new ideas for different ways to approach instruments and music - have enjoyed the unique performance and opportunity of experimenting with various sound effects Pre-Tertiary - develop an appreciation of the arts to seed engagement in the arts - be able to appreciate the art form and understand there is no one fixed way to approach any problem or situation. - have gained knowledge to inform their creative pursuits and expressive capacities - gained new ideas for different ways to approach instruments and music - have enjoyed the unique performance and opportunity of experimenting with various sound effects With this program, we hope to inspire students to pick up the guitar or any musical instrument and ignite their creative spark.

- COST -
Schools may use the Tote Board Arts Grant to subsidise the programme cost. There is a subsidy of up to 50% of the programme cost for mainstream schools, and up to 70% of the programme cost for Special Education Schools.
The Tote Board Arts Grant is not applicable to pre-schools. NAC partners selected pre-school centres to receive funding to purchase Pre-School AEP.
The following programme is approved under NAC-AEP 2019/2020 until 31 December 2020.
