- OUTLINE -
Overview of Workshop In this workshop, students are introduced to the fundamentals of performance through improvisation, script analysis and/or the study of monologue materials. Special emphasis is placed on the study of practitioners, interpretation and translation of the dramatic script as the basis for exploration of characterisation, motivation and transition. Course Objective The students become competent in creating & performing part(s) of a theatrical piece, either individually or as a group while demonstrating a good sense of selfawareness, a sound moral compass, and the necessary skills and knowledge to take on challenges during the collaborative learning process.
- LEARNING OBJECTIVES -
By the end of the workshop, students will be able to: (Knowledge Objectives) LO1. Compare and contrast two theories related to acting LO2. Explain different points of view e.g. character and character/character and audience etc LO3. Justify a personal approach to acting (Skills Objectives) LO4. Portray believable characters on stage e.g. understanding objectives, motivations, status and stereotypes LO5. Use a variety of sources creatively as stimuli for devising drama e.g. memories, social and environmental issues, cultural traditions LO6. Suspend disbelief by staying focused whilst performing and maintaining character consistency LO7. Use the body, gestures and movement to create meaning, develop characters and to express feelings LO8. Demonstrate an awareness of audience, and visually pleasing blocking and movement on stage LO9. Use props, costume and set confidently and creatively. LO10. Use music and sound to complement performance. LO11. Interpret, analyse and use a script. (Social Emotional Objectives 21st Century Competencies) LO12. Appreciate different ideas and perspectives LO13. Critically assess information options and make sound decisions (creative and inventive thinking) LO14. Respect self and others (selfawareness, selfmanagement and social awareness) LO15. Work successfully as part of a team and use effective language in order to do so (relationship management and responsible decisionmaking)

The school is responsible for any performancebased cost (e.g. costume, set and props)
Schools may use the Tote Board Arts Grant to subsidise the programme cost. There is a subsidy of up to 50% of the programme cost for mainstream schools, and up to 70% of the programme cost for Special Education Schools.
The Tote Board Arts Grant is not applicable to pre-schools. NAC partners selected pre-school centres to receive funding to purchase Pre-School AEP.
The following programme is approved under NAC-AEP 2019-2022 until 31 December 2022.
