NEW! DIGITAL FORMAT AVAILABLE TO SCHOOLS ________________________________________ This programme is now adapted to: 1. Allow students to view content via online platforms such as Zoom 2. Allow students to interact with instructors via online platforms. ________________________________________ Students will learn about Dikir Barat - a style of call and response singing in Malay culture. A Tukang Karut is one of the lead singer who makes up the lyrics and sings them spontaneously. The chorus echoes in response to the what was sung verse by verse. Traditionally performed at festive occasions in Malay. We can even have Chinese and Indian themed songs/lyrics. A customed lesson plan/schedule can be tailored to suit your requirements . Students will have a better understanding of Dikir Barat . They will also have a heightened value of corporation and teamwork amongst classmates and friends.

Schools may use the Tote Board Arts Grant to subsidise the programme cost. There is a subsidy of up to 50% of the programme cost for mainstream schools, and up to 70% of the programme cost for Special Education Schools.
The Tote Board Arts Grant is not applicable to pre-schools. NAC partners selected pre-school centres to receive funding to purchase Pre-School AEP.
The following programme is approved under NAC-AEP 2019-2021 until 31 December 2021.
