Appreciation of 3 Chinese Musical Instruments
- OUTLINE -
Brought to you by House of Music, the performance introduces Chinese musical instruments. The performance will showcase the various playing techniques of featured Chinese instruments as well as the introduction to the history and background knowledge of these instruments. Repertoires for the performance varies from traditional classics of the featured instruments to modern pieces such as pop music pieces as we believe that this will pique the interest of students and heighten their appreciation to Chinese Music. Schools can choose from a list of the chinese instruments: Erhu, Dizi, Suona, Sheng, Yangqin, Zhongruan, Guzheng, Liuqin, Xiao, Hulusi, Pipa, Chinese Drums, House of Music will also be able to provide suitable mix of Chinese instruments. Depending on the various customisation of the programme, a fourth musician – keyboardist may be paired to enhance the overall performance.
- LEARNING OBJECTIVES -
1. To create and increase the awareness towards the art form of Chinese music 2. To identify and understand about the instruments in terms of its sound, technique, music expression, etc. 3. To expose students to classical Chinese instrumental music pieces 4. To further engage the students in the arts through the development of a sense of appreciation for the art form

- COST -
$1300 (Cost of programme is negotiable with booking of 2 or more shows on the same day.)
Schools may use the Tote Board Arts Grant to subsidise the programme cost. There is a subsidy of up to 50% of the programme cost for mainstream schools, and up to 70% of the programme cost for Special Education Schools.
The Tote Board Arts Grant is not applicable to pre-schools. NAC partners selected pre-school centres to receive funding to purchase Pre-School AEP.
The following programme is approved under NAC-AEP 2019-2022 until 31 December 2022.
