Around Asia on a Fiddle
- OUTLINE -
Based on our popular programme ‘Around the World on a Fiddler’ with Fiddler for Peace Kailin Yong and his band, ‘Around Asia on a Fiddle’ turns the spotlight to the world’s most populous continent. Students will travel through cultural time and space with Fiddler for Peace Kailin Yong and his band as they play an exciting program of Asian music showcasing the sonic and cultural versatility of the violin. Between songs, presenter will touch on some of the characteristics (E.g. tonalities and rhythms) commonly found in the folk music of each country and tradition. Students will be encouraged to identify the countries of origin of a few pieces of music played by the band. Students will also be encouraged to participate by clapping along with the songs and sing along with the choruses.
- LEARNING OBJECTIVES -
