Junior Actors (formerly Acting for Beginners)
- OUTLINE -
Overview of Workshop This workshop teaches the basics of acting and the positive attitude needed to work as a team. Through collaborative learning, students will be given plenty of opportunities to develop their acting skills while working toward a simple performance. Course Objective The students become competent in developing character(s) for a simple performance, either individually or as a group while demonstrating a good sense of self-awareness, a sound moral compass, and the necessary skills and knowledge to take on challenges during the collaborative learning process.
- LEARNING OBJECTIVES -
By the end of the workshop, students will be able to: (Knowledge Objectives) LO1. Explain different points of view e.g. character and character/character and audience etc LO2. Explain the different roles in the theatre e.g. director/playwright/stage manager LO3. Explain and execute theatre etiquette (Skills Objectives) LO4. Use the body, gestures and movement to create meaning, develop characters and to express feelings LO5. Project and control volume LO6. Creatively use voice to develop characters and to express feelings LO7. Use props, costume and set confidently and creatively. LO8. Demonstrate an awareness of audience, and visually pleasing blocking and movement on stage LO9. Develop confidence as a performer and an individual LO10. Suspend disbelief by staying focused whilst performing and maintaining character consistency (Social Emotional Objectives 21st Century Competencies) LO11. Respect self and others (selfawareness, selfmanagement and social awareness) LO12. Contribute relevant and thoughtful ideas. LO13. Work successfully as part of a team and use effective language in order to do so (relationship management and responsible decisionmaking) LO14. Actively participate in a consistent and constructive manner.

$150/trainer/hour (GST not applicable)
The school will be responsible for additional performancebased cost (e.g. costume, set and props).
Schools may use the Tote Board Arts Grant to subsidise the programme cost. There is a subsidy of up to 50% of the programme cost for mainstream schools, and up to 70% of the programme cost for Special Education Schools.
The Tote Board Arts Grant is not applicable to pre-schools. NAC partners selected pre-school centres to receive funding to purchase Pre-School AEP.
The following programme is approved under NAC-AEP 2019/2020 until 31 December 2020.
