Chinese Music & Orchestra Appreciation Workshop
- OUTLINE -
The workshop aims to engage and heighten students’ appreciation to Chinese music and traditional chinese instruments. The 3-session workshop will cover: - Chinese music development (folk songs, Chinese opera, court music, modern Chinese instrumental music, Jiangnan silk and bamboo music, etc.) - Chinese orchestra and the 4 main section: Woodwind, Bowed-strings, Plucked-strings and Percussion - Chinese music instruments and its representative music - Chinese music classical works - Chinese music notation and the use of transcribing to Chinese Music Notation (jianpu) used in Chinese music Students will learn through fun activities and engaging presentation that includes videos and audios where they will be able to understand more about the development of Chinese music and Chinese Orchestra and how it is closely related to us today.
- LEARNING OBJECTIVES -
1. To develop an awareness towards Chinese music and its instruments. 2. To develop a sense of appreciation for the Chinese Music so as to further engage the students 3. To learn basic music theory such as rhythm, tempo, dynamics and counting. 4. To learn how to read Chinese music notation (jianpu). 5. To learn more about the development of Chinese music and its genres. 6. To learn how music transposing work in the context of Chinese music 7. To learn more about the representative pieces of Chinese music.

$9 per session (45mins) per Hour
$9 per student per session.
Recommended number of student: 30 - 40 students
Schools may use the Tote Board Arts Grant to subsidise the programme cost. There is a subsidy of up to 50% of the programme cost for mainstream schools, and up to 70% of the programme cost for Special Education Schools.
The Tote Board Arts Grant is not applicable to pre-schools. NAC partners selected pre-school centres to receive funding to purchase Pre-School AEP.
The following programme is approved under NAC-AEP 2019-2022 until 31 December 2022.
