Once Upon a Time


Once Upon a Time is a concert experience that invites students to encounter Classical Music performances in a fresh and engaging way. By delving into the intimate life stories of composers' and relating personal narratives and juicy details about the pieces, students will get an up close and personal glimpse into the world of classical music and how it relates to human emotions and society.


After the session, students should:

1. have an awareness of various classical music composers and their works

2. Appreciate how music is related to and expresses various emotions

3. Be aware of how music can be linked to non-musical elements such as images and historical events

4. Learn to hear the stories within music and to connect with emotions through music

5. Be inspired to express themselves as unique and creative individuals through this art form

Schools may use the Tote Board Arts Grant to subsidise the programme cost. There is a subsidy of up to 50% of the programme cost for mainstream schools, and up to 70% of the programme cost for Special Education Schools.
The Tote Board Arts Grant is not applicable to pre-schools. NAC partners selected pre-school centres to receive funding to purchase Pre-School AEP.

The following programme is approved under NAC-AEP 2015-2016 until 31 December 2016.
